MARK YOUR CALENDAR AND FREE YOUR DAY - This fantastic event is open to members and non-members of NYHRC. Each class is a $20 donation to the Glam-a-thon Foundation, a non-profit organization providing women battling breast cancer and their families with support and funding for mammograms and diagnostic testing. It’s going to be a great day jam packed with great classes, great raffle items, and load of giveaways, and gift bags!
My favorite NYHRC instructors are going to be teaching —-
Matt Wilpers for spinning — He has SO MUCH energy, his spin classes are dynamite! His awesome playlist will keep you going strong for the hour and you will come out of there cycling harder and stronger than you thought ever would be possible.
Leo Wright and Celine Desgranges for sculpting and bootcamp – They give you tough love, they do not let you cheat your workout and they will push you. YOU WILL BE SORE! It is more than worth it.
Ash Aviles for Yoga — he’s got a gift for making you feel brand new, deeply at peace and rejuvenated after every class.
Here’s your chance to work out with the instructors I speak very highly of in my blog, and donate your efforts towards a really, really good cause.

When I’m in a race, I say to myself: I am a machine. I am a powerful machine.” Do that and let me know how that turns out for you- Matt Wilpers, my spin coach
Yes, it’s true I can’t dance to save my life. But I can feel the beat when I’m spinning and match the cadence of the songs my trainer blasts during the hour of crazy cycling. Hills, sprints, you name it. I love how the distractions inside my head completely quiet, allowing me to just focus on matching my spin stride to the beat of the bass. Shifting my resistance accordingly, always pushing myself more than the trainer demands. I’m just bursting with energy. Sweat-drenched is the only way. Lovely, eh? Feels so darn detoxifing!
The thing about spinning, like yoga, there is so much importance on keeping your breath. Deep inhale, deep exhale. All through the spin, no matter how fast your legs are pushing, that breath keeps you solid.

From the self-described “sort-of vegetarian who eats fish” Olivia Wilde’s advice: “Do some yoga. I never feel more beautiful than after I’ve really spent some time breathing.” Olivia also spins at a local studio (a fact she’s embarrassed to admit, since she’s just blocks from the beach). “I make fun of it, but it’s amazing, because you have to push yourself through this resistance, which is so therapeutic,” she says. “And they say you can burn nearly 800 calories in, like, 45 minutes if you push it to the highest level.” She also dabbles in karate and hikes regularly with her dogs: a bulldog named Lola that she lovingly refers to as “a side of ham” and a fluffy mutt that goes by Paco.
